After last night’s MTV Music video awards outburst in New York, Kanye is in hot water for taking the spotlight away from Taylor Swift’s graceful acceptance speech. What gives?
‘I am really happy for you,” West stated. “But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
No stranger to controversy, Kanye West has often ‘voiced’ his opinions in a very public way, but does the public have the energy to put up with him? West was subsequently thrown out of the awards show, and apologized to Taylor thereafter on his blog kanyeuniversecity.com. Russell Brand, who hosted the show, was also under fire just last year for a message he left on actor Andrew Sachs’ answer phone with criticism coming from all over, even from British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
Ratings have a big factor in playing with award shows due to declining TV audiences, and it would appear that executives are pushing for more on screen drama.
Every year the VMAs are an attention-grabbing spotlight for the music industry, and this year has had its fair share of ‘circus’ headlines. The question is will Kanye West be received at other award shows?
