USAID sponsored a runway show and exhibition on the 26th of July 2010, to help Pakistani women showcase their talent, expand their business potential and to help national fashion and craft filter into the Western world.  The event was a smashing success, we hear. The US ambassador, Anne W. Patterson (no connection to Robert Pattinson, don’t get too excited) said in her opening speech, “This event is more than a fashion show, it is also an opportunity to support women entrepreneurs in Pakistan and to introduce them to international buyers.” Hats off, more such events are certainly needed here in Pakistan.
