This is the expression that the theatre group, Act by 3 Production believes in. With an aim to popularize theatre and create a passion for it amongst the youth, Act by 3 Productions present Pakistan Youth Leadership forum 2010; a project by a group of three United States Department of State Alumni, who are also the directors of Act by 3 Productions; Dr. Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan (Program Director), Madiha Gul (Creative Director) and Daniyal Talat (Technical Director). The launch of Pakistan Youth Leadership Forum 2010 was held at Al-Hamra Art Centre Lahore on 29th October 2010.

The aim of the program is to create a platform where the bright students of Pakistan will be given an opportunity to enhance their Leadership, Oratory and Presentational skills through a series of workshops. The objectives that the group aims to achieve through the Pakistan Youth Leadership Forum 2010 are the empowerment of youth through tools of public diplomacy, to create a sense of peace, security, responsibility and commitment amongst them. The program also aims to bring together those Alumni, who have represented Pakistan at International forums, so that they can come forward on a single platform and share their experience with young leaders of the future generation. Mr. Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri, Ms. Maiza Hameed, Ms. Hadia Awan and Basit Afzal, all former Alumni, spoke at the launch and shared their experiences with the audience and the students. This collaborative project of the alumni from various fields will give them a chance to interact with the youth and help them learn from their experiences.

The PYLF program will spread over a period of 4 months and cater to students of different public and private sector universities and colleges of Lahore, through a series of interactive workshops, conferences, theatrical activities and voluntary work. The program will consist of a core group which will contain of 20 highly motivated students, along with students from other educational institutes, who will participate in the workshops and interactive sessions. The workshops and lectures will focus on:

  • Leadership and Communication skills
  • The Art of Decision making
  • Dispute Resolutions
  • Social Entrepreneurship
  • Culture Studies
  • Pakistan-USA Relations
  • Public Speaking/Parliamentary style Debating
  • Theatre and various theatrical activities as medium for social change

At the end of the 14-week session, a closing ceremony will be held in which the students will perform a play that they will prepare at the workshops, and will also be awarded for their performance throughout the sessions.

The PYLF also plans to conduct an Outreach Program which will give the coordinators an opportunity to share their leadership qualities with a new audience.

Thus the program will help to promote civic commitment and public vigilance in the youth, that will lead to a much needed progress in our society. PYLF 2010 aspires to create a passageway for creativity, innovation and growth in our youth and thrives to bring out the true leaders in our younger generation.
