Coming straight off the red carpet at the Annual MIAAC Film Festival for his critically acclaimed films Ashes and The Waiting City, Samrat Chakrabarti is heading straight for more limelight with screen time on NBC’s comedy series, “30 Rock”. Starring with Alec Baldwin on Thursday November 18th at 8:30pm, Samrat will take a turn from his dramatic roles in his heavy hitting films, to portray a comical guy with a lot of guts!
“30 Rock’s” episode called, “College” starts off with Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack being excited about microwave sales going up without his assistance, which in turn results in him questioning whether or not there is a glitch with the microwave design. Samrat describes his character Ramesh as, “the head microwave department guy with a combative personality”. As a result of their personalities, Jack and Ramesh bump heads regarding the quality of the microwaves, as well as Jack’s role in the company. Samrat’s role on the show is basically of this humorous guy who as Samrat explains is “a character that is a goofy lab rat who stands up to Baldwin”. His humor consists of social commentary that can be considered a funny twist on “reverse racism”.

Samrat Chakrabarti is a British born, New York based Actor who has been in several Hollywood and International Films. His film credits include: Claire McCarthy’s “The Waiting City” (w/ Radha Mitchell), Bruce Leddy’s “The Wedding Weekend” (w/ Molly Shannon), Manish Acharya’s “Loins of Punjab of Presents” (w/ Shabana Azmi), Spike Lee’s “She Hate Me”, Yash Raj’s “New York”, Ajay Naidu’s “Ashes” and Joseph Matthews’s “Bombay Summer”(w/ Tanishtha Chatterjee). He has had several guest stars and recurring roles on television, such as: Law And Order(NBC), The Sopranos(HBO), Love Monkey (CBS), Damages (FX), All My Children (ABC), In Treatment (HBO) and Hope and Faith(ABC). Samrat is also an established international musician and has won numerous awards for his music, including: a U.S. CARA for Best Original Pop/Rock Song, for his composition, “What’s It all About”. He holds a MFA in Acting from the ART/MXAT Program at Harvard University.
