15th June 2011 was the night of the 100 minute ( one of the longest ever!) Lunar Eclipse. It was visible from start to finish from eastern Africa, central Asia, the Middle East and parts of Australia.  During a lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the sun and the moon so that all or part of the sun’s light is blocked from the moon.(according to NASA). The night was a great treat for photographers.

The June 2011 Eclipse  was the darkest eclipse because the moon crossed through the centre of the earth’s shadow, and as a result no sunlight could fall on the moon making it deep dark. Besides, it was one of the longest eclipses as the last one occurred in July 2000. The next Eclipse is forecasted for the year 2141!!
