PEPSI PCB CRICKET STARS CAMPAIGN

PEPSI PCB CRICKET STARS CAMPAIGN

Shining on cricket sky for youngsters is not impossible

BY RidaWaris

Cricket is not only a game for Pakistani’s; it is the heart of every Pakistani. A cricket match turns into a war once the green shirt’s men appear on the pitch. People in Pakistan consider it as a matter of their respect and disrespect. In every nuke and corner of this country, in every street, big or small, we see boys playing cricket with great enthusiasm and passion. It has encompassed our mind, blood and soul. Love found for cricket in Pakistan cannot be found anywhere else on this planet. Pepsi has decided to sponsor, intensify and support this passion and love for cricket in Pakistan.

Pepsi has shake hands with PCB and is now on a mission to hunt down the talented people across the nation. It aims at giving opportunity to those people who not only have potential but incomparable talent in playing cricket. Many talented boys who should be playing on a national or international level and bring back medals and laurels for Pakistan, are playing in small streets and grounds-why? Because they have not met a chance to reach the place which deserves them. Pepsi is going to provide that opportunity, that one break through to all those boys out there who should be representing Pakistan out in the world.

If you chase your dreams till they become reality, then success is inevitable. There may be lack of opportunities but if dreams are pursued with passion then they are reachable. Past year, Pepsi has joined hands with PCB and started a Pepsi PCB Cricket Star campaign. The campaign is commissioned to select 20 talented players and give them official coaching by PCB. The selected players are sent to National Cricket Academy (NCA) for training. The polishing of their talent is done through giving them training by an official PCB coach who is also responsible for training our national team players.

These players are now unleashing their talent at PCB U-16 or U-19, are eyeing a place in the national cricket team as most of the boys are performing amazingly brilliant in the U-16 circuit. Their passion, loyalty towards their country and determination to represent Pakistan across the world like other cricket stars can be seen by their vivid and splendid performance in tournaments like U-16 and U-19. Top performer of the Pepsi PCB Under-16 was Khushdil Shah from Abbotabad. Other players that came under the eyes of everyone were Mattiullah Khan from Peshawar who was awarded with the best wicketkeeper, Muhammad Afzal from Karachi who was named the best batsman, Khalid Kail from Peshawar was the best fielder and Sharfuddin Khan from Quetta was declared the best bowler of the year 2010.

After the tremendous success of Pepsi PCB cricket star campaign in 2010, Pepsi is once again launching its campaign in 2011 so that the growth of cricket doesn’t comes to a halt. Pepsi do not want to miss out any boy who has the potential and therefore is going to 50 cities and 100 towns in search of the cricket star. It is an unbiased competition where everyone will be given equal and fair chance to display his talent. The selection will be wholly made on the merit. The capabilities of every player will be analyzed and examined carefully before selection. These selected boys will be sent to NCA which has a history of producing legends in cricket.

Over the past few months, few unfortunate events took place which has highly demoralized the youth who were compatible for playing in the national team. When Pakistan lost the chance of hosting the World Cup due to its political instability and security reasons, many youngsters felt humiliated as their country’s reputation was shattered. Similarly, the spot-fixing case incurred unhappiness and hopelessness among many cricket fans, as they believed that their feelings and country’s respect are being sold by their ideals. Moreover, the passion of youngsters is stubbed down due to the lack of resources, platform and direction. The corruption that is practiced nationwide in every profession in Pakistan further demoralizes the teenagers who believe nothing can be done without unfairness. Pepsi wants to bring such youngsters on the forefront.

An illustrious and comprehensive campaign is being launched by Pepsi Cola to create awareness about this campaign to the youngsters so that more and more talent joins in. Advertisements are being given on almost every famous television channels, sport magazines and newspapers. The best part is the that this campaign is being launched and endorsed by everyone’s favourite and ideal- Shahid Afridi. His endorsement and support to the campaign has pulled many youngsters in this campaign from all over the country.

Our youth is our strength. Prosperity can only be bring about by the youth of Pakistan. Thanks to Pepsi that our youth who was thirsty for just one break or chance can now reach their goals. Cricket will experience the growth which never has been seen before.

SRK impressed by Hrithik’s worked out body; Priyanka tweeting intimate pictures with co-star

Pakistani fans are eagerly waiting for the 1990 remake of the classic film to be released by IMGC Global on more than 20 screens nationwide. Promotion of the film in Pakistan is being done by Encyclomedia PR.

For the first time, his co-star, Priyanka Chopra, has been posting intimate film stills of the two of them together on Twitter. Hrithik reacts with a laugh, “May be she likes me more than her other heroes.”

Last Saturday, even Shah Rukh Khan joined his rave club, tweeting, “Saw Hrithik’s worked out body on his fone (cellphone)…Noticed even the ‘telefone’ looked open mouthed and overawed!!” The actor responds with, “It’s Shah Rukh’s greatness that he can acknowledge and compliment a younger actor. For me, it’s reassuring to know that that I have friends like him who care for me.”

Hrithik himself had agreed to a guest appearance in Shah Rukh’s just-released Don 2. Will we see him in a bigger role, may be even the lead, in future Don sequels? “There can only be one Don and one Krrish,” he asserts. “For now, I’m happy being Vijay.”

On Sunday, Hrithik Roshan completed his dubbing and it was a wrap for Agneepath. “It’s overwhelming because we give a huge chunk of ourselves to every film we do,” says the actor, admitting that it’s been a pretty satisfying journey so far with debutant director Karan Malhotra. “Every character you see on screen, from Vijay and Kancha Cheena to Kaali and Lala, comes from the mind and heart of this man.”

The Bollywood superstar, who turns 38 today, is ready for a ‘working birthday’. But there is a dinner planned for the evening with friends and extended family. “I haven’t spent time with all of them in a while and a birthday is the best time to catch up,” Hrithik smiles, remembering how this time last year, he was looking forward to his January 20 date with his waxen lookalike at Madame Tussaud’s museum. “This year, I’m hoping to top that with Agneepath, which will be unveiled on January 26. Hopefully, it will be Happy Republic Day.”

Hrithik’s Vijay had earlier invited comparisons with Amitabh Bachchan’s National Award-winning performance in the 1990 original. “I think it’s absurd that anyone would think I was trying to ape the Vijay Dinanath Chauhan of the original,” he retorts. “The only way I can do justice to a movie is to make it mine, and (make) the character me. I’ve played Vijay straight and simple, without any swagger or style. He is someone who would otherwise merge with a crowd if the camera hadn’t picked him out to tell his story.”

This film is slated to release on 26th of January 2012, worldwide.
