Mina Hasan’s Spring/Summer Collection Rania Now in Stores!
Mina Hasan’s spring/summer 2012 collection “Rania” is now available at the flagship stores in Karachi and Lahore. The name Rania stems from various origins and is translated for ‘Queen’ in Indian mythology and being satisfied and contented in the Arabic language. Indeed the collection exudes sedate glamour combining a variety of colours, embroidery and embellishments to make you stand.
The collection resonates with radiant colours of the spring season with each outfit aiming to give a royal feel. As it plays on neutral, earthy shades the collection beautifully incorporates sharp colours in the form embroidery, embellishments and piping. The cuts in the outfit add an endless flow to fabrics whereas the nets and laces used create movement and translucency. Variations in fabric and the use of gemstones add a touch of royal elegance to each outfit. The line also plays on navy blue and peach with the heavier outfits as it integrates a lot of bling with neat embellishments. The aim has been to create a goddess like effect where each outfit is such that it shines through and stands out in a crowd.
Designer Mina Hasan as the daughter of Madam Nur Jehan was naturally exposed to the world of fashion at an early age. Indeed she grew up adorning her mother’s famous sari’s and attributes the first and most important influence on her fashion and style education to her mother, the legendary Madam Nur Jahan - her biggest inspiration.
The design philosophy guiding the Mina Hasan label is to create clothes that are, put simply, glamorous and unapologetically regal. Her ornate aesthetic brings luxury and extravagance, cut in classic silhouettes, embellished with embroidery in a myriad of colours and styles which make each piece a unique work of art. The team at Mina Hasan believes in producing clothes of the highest quality and every process is vigorously monitored at each stage of production. With their strength lying in the cut and the finish of each piece, all fabrics, stones, and laces are handpicked and imported personally to ensure a flawless level of quality.

About Mina Hasan
Designer Mina Hasan was born in the cultural city of Lahore and received her early education at the prestigious Convent of Jesus and Mary in Murree. After completing her boarding school education, she went on to study at the University College London and received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the prestigious Slade School of Design. However, Mina Hasan attributes the first and most important influence on her fashion and style education to her mother, the legendary Madam Nur Jahan - her biggest inspiration.
As the daughter of Madam Nur Jehan, Mina Hasan was naturally exposed to the world of fashion at an early age. Indeed she grew up adorning her mother’s famous sari’s and she herself would keep a tailor at home during her summer vacations to make clothes for herself and her sisters. Her education in fine arts served to fine-tune her grasp of colours and developed her design aesthetic.
Mina Hasan first started with a small set up designing clothes for close friends and family which met with considerable success. She then went on to start her design house in the year 2002, specifically for haute couture and later expanded to include an exclusive line of semi-formal Prêt-à-Porter.
The brands philosophy is to make women more refined and aware of their personal style. Mina Hasan herself believes clothes to be just one aspect of this - it is a general sense of poise and grace that Mina Hasan promotes, which doesn't just come with donning a beautiful outfit but also carrying it with grace and femininity. To this end, she has recently also opened a salon in a collaboration with her niece Natasha as an extension of her brand’s philosophy and style. Eventually, the Mina Hasan brand aim is to become a wider-reaching lifestyle brand to include interiors, décor, furniture et al. Design, she maintains, is a way of living and reflects in every part of the way we are and the way we live.

Other international exhibitions include the annual Shimmer exhibit in Dubai and at the APPNA conference in America.
