A change in traditional autocratic leadership styles to organic, network-based management is being driven by the present economic and financial environment.

That is one of the conclusions in the first of a series of discussions around the pressures and changes facing leadership today. Taking part are Dr Jonathan Trevor, Lecturer in Human Resources & Organisations at Cambridge Judge Business School and Kate Tojeiro, executive coach and Managing Director of X Fusion Ltd.

They reflect on a recurring theme to emerge from research among large and small organisations, that workers have lost faith in the capability and leadership of their bosses.

Dr Trevor cautions that there are contradictory reports around the picture of effective leadership in the current financial environment. Levels of satisfaction, engagement, loyalty and motivation in organisations are said to be at an all time low but there other measures which indicate that, given the difficult environment, some leaders are managing people very well.

“We are seeing a transition in terms of styles of leadership from autocratic command-and-control, which made sense in bureaucratic hierarchical organisation, where essentially power is concentrated at the top and the majority of the organisation is about execution, to something which is far more organic, far more network-based. Within that, leadership does look different.’

He adds that qualities around coaching, empathy, emotional intelligence and the ability to connect and engage with people throughout an organization, not just in a purely top-down fashion, are important.

Dr Trevor believes the financial crisis, although deeply disturbing for a great many people in terms of job security with fear and uncertainty, has forced the leadership issue.

There is great innovation in the leadership sphere to cope in a very challenging environment.

“I think it is fair to say that many people view their bosses are simply not performing well or giving the type of leadership employees want in these times. Equally there’s another dimension that is forcing the agenda. We are seeing some tremendously exciting things, particularly things that will fit for the future. There is an upside, a silver lining, difficult though it may be, in these current times.”

On the sets of Dance India Dance – Akshay Kumar merged his dance moves with some action stunts to make a starry entry on Zee TV’s dance-based reality show, Dance India Dance. Mithun Chakraborthy seemed rather elated as he met with his co-actor, who was there to promote his film Rowdy Rathore which is going to release in June 2012 and distributed by IMGC in Pakistan and Encyclomedia PR is doing the PR. Akshay interacted with dance masters Geeta Kapoor, Terence Lewis and Remo D’Souza before catching up with the contest­ants, who were thrilled at meeting with the actor. Saumya Tandon and Jay Bhanushali played the perfect hosts as the audience cheered on when the actors took to the stage for an impromtu jig. Mithun recalled shooting with the actor on their recent film and even imitated his acting style, while Akshay tried to copy some of the senior star’s signa­ture dance moves.

Chart-topping Bhangra Brothers collaborate with award winning German actress ‘Indira WeIs’

The sought after German-duo, ‘Bhangra Brothers’ are back with a feature project. They have the honor to be featured by the German super star Indira Weis discovered the Bhangra Brothers on the german market and signed them.  The project is single is an unusual mix of a European, Punjabi sound, fused with some Indian electro pop and produced by the brothers themselves.

Last year the two brothers Wiki and Gurinder debuted their career with ‘Sun Baliye’, which was produced by RDB, and hit the number 1 spots in music charts across UK, Canada and Australia. They are now back with Indira Weis to unleash a brand new exciting sound with Indian Electro Pop an interesting collaboration that  brings together a crazy European sound fusing Punjabi lyrics, with a dubstep beat!

The song  also promotes a social message about the Indian-Pakistani conflict, a heavy issue, which they tried to transport by a party message, as the hook says in the end “Tonight we gonna party punjabi style, come on maharaja give me a smile… Indian or Pakistani, let us forget about the fight”. It was important for Indira feat. Bhangra Brothers to leave a message that celebrating together in peace is a good way to bring people together, and even those which are in fight with each other.

The half German and half Indian actress and singer Indira Weis who has worked in many German films, television shows and was even awarded trendsetter of the year, was related to a half German and half Pakistani former US5 singer Jay Khan.

Speaking about the new track, the duo said: “We’re very excited about this project and sure that all of our fans are going to love this brand new fusion of sound. We feel honored to have been given the chance to work with Indira Weis, and are sure that she is certainly going to get people talking in the Punjabi scene.”

Also the famous Dubstep DJ Pinju was flashed by Indian Electro Pop and did one of his famous remixes, which are already running on the UK turn tables.
